Trang Le

Trang is a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and she is double majoring in human development/ family studies and Spanish. She is very humble. She Hopes to be a teach for either elementary or high school students. She is involved with the Newman Catholic Center where she is a Hospitality Minister and teaches middle school Catechesis. Because of this calling, she is compassionate in helping and demonstrate her charismatic leadership skill.

"the best decision I made of 2019"

“The best decision I made of 2019 was going on this trip. There are so many things I could say about how much this trip did for me. I loved getting to know the other volunteers, who have since become my family. We all bonded so much throughout the trip, and we really helped each other grow. Thinking about my students, I can’t help but be filled with joy. Walking into my classroom every day and seeing my students stand up and say in unison, “Good morning/afternoon, Teacher” always made me smile. I loved joining the parish community and being welcomed into everyone’s open arms, despite not being from there. I think being able to fully live in a community in Vietnam is what I appreciate most, as it was such a unique experience that I’ve never been able to live, since I grew up in the U.S. My Vietnamese is not the greatest, but that didn’t stop us from getting to know each other. I grew so much during the trip. My love and compassion for others grew exponentially, seeing my students learn every day but then go to work at home afterward. I also was able to reconnect with my culture, something that is difficult to do in the States; I really value my culture, and this trip gave me the opportunity to learn more about it. I am so glad I was able to volunteer with Nhan Ai Compassion, and I am forever grateful for what this experience has done for me.”
